Serotonin

Serotonin is a chemical which plays an important role In the central nervous system, and affects the regulation of anger, aggression, body temperature, mood, sleep, vomiting, sexuality, and appetite. It is often regarded as the "happiness" chemical, which makes us feel good and comfortable.

Skin picking is sometimes associated with imbalance of the serotonin chemical in our bodies. Certain types of medications are prescribed with the goal of balancing serotonin levels in the brain, in order to treat the disorder.
