I am having a HARD time
Posted February 7th, 2011 by DOGLOVER
I am new to trying to get over this and I am having a rough time right now.
What can I do immediately to stop the compulsive urge to pick?
I have some raised up cystic acne right now that I am DYING to squeeze. Really struggling to not go to the mirror & get all this stuff out!
I keep touching my face & feeling the bumps, but have not yet picked. ALMOST did, but caught myself before I broke the skin.
So far today I have worked out, cleansed my skin, treated it w/ a facial mask & now I am at a loss,.
Any advice???

When i break out and have the urge to pick i decide to do an experience. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I DIDN"T PICK AT THIS BLEMISH? The pimple may be more visible at first, but after a couple days it goes away WITHOUT SCARRING! this has motivated me a lot.. try it! its hard but it couldn't hurt!

Be strong, I literally taped black rubbish bags over all mirrors to avoid temptation. 2 days without picking now... A personal best. Good luck

I would really suggest icing your face morning and night after you wash it. I just started doing this based on a dermatologists advice. After I wash my face I gently run a bare ice cube over my entire face, focusing on the problem areas. Do it until the ice cube is completely melted away. This really helps calm the inflamation and speed the healing. Also it is just water, so there is no risk that it will irritate your skin. While I am all for natural remedies, I would be cautious about trying all these different things that people recommend, because if you have sensitive skin, like me, new things can be irritants. The ice is also good because it makes me feel like I am helping the problem without picking. Good luck! stay strong, it is worth it!

The thing with cystic acne- they get smaller and generally go pretty quick if left. They downsize and downsize-then they go. Rub a little bit of garlic clove- (little bit-can be harsh) over area 2 times a day. Great remedy. Use some other simple natural remedies to keep face clean and to reduce infammation. Cucumber Juice, banana skin, egg white etc. Wash off after use. Drink plenty a day (not tooo much lol), cut down dairy and wheat. Make sure you are eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and day. Say to yourself- that from today you are going to avoid all mirrors. Then in 2 weeks-give us a post on what the results are (you will see a great difference). Plus you will feel good in that 2 weeks- knowing that you've left it and because you havent touched it-its going to look much better than if you thought about it a lot and you kept trying to squeeze them. Look forward to the results-let it motivate you. If you need to go to mirror to apply stuff.. stand back from mirror.
