We are finally recognized by the DSM-V!

Just read an article that says that Pathological Grooming will be now be recognized by the DSM-V under the category of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I am seriously overjoyed by this right now!!! Our skin picking is finally legitimized in the eyes of the medical world. It may seem trivial but for some reason it makes me feel like less of a freak. Here's a great quote: "The beauty is that a categorization in the DSM-V gives it a whole new light...And the research institutions can have a unified definition and approach that will lead to drug company and NIH funding." Anyone else excited by this???
I'm glad to hear that it isn't just us pickers that realize we've got problems, the psychiatric field now recognizes it! However, I can't say that I'm happy to hear that drug companies will now be able to develop drugs to "treat" us, because I'm afraid that we'll become guinea pigs.
I do agree and I'm more excited about the fact that there will be more research on the topic and hopefully more therapy options.
Agreed!
