scars

has anyone here had any success with different methods of scar removal, like acid peels, copper treatments, etc? just wondering because i've been reading some things from dr. loren pickart's site (ironic name, isn't it?lol!). i also just found out about needling- it's like a little wheel with tiny needles on it that you roll over the scar. it's probably too early for me to worry about scar removal as i haven't even stopped picking yet, but i am sincerely hoping that i will soon be in a place to consider the next step in making myself normal!

Hi anniem.....I have had all my scars removed before when I had treatment for my spd before. It was very successfull. I had a series of 10 natural skin peels (70%), not chemical, with 10 deep cleansing facials. I had the same on my arms and it removed all scars and pigmentation. I have millions of new scars now though, because I started picking more that ever, but it does help.

Everyone! I have used a treatment that works to remove scars and old blotches and pigmentation problems from picking! I've had it done twice before --- and picked again since... so I've I supposed wasted a lot of money.... but it works! It's a laser/photo facial that you can get done by people who do laser hair removal and such. Depending on the scars it can take 1-4 treatments, but there was DRASTIC difference after the first time. I felt sooo beautiful! I'm going to go get it done again in a few weeks. It is quite expensive at about $90-$150 Canadian dollars each session, but it works wonders!!! Has anyone else tried this???

I've had it done on my face, but I'm going to go and also get it on my chest in a week or so. It'll work anywhere on your body where there is darker pigmentation. And the really great thing about it is that it works best on the darker scars.

I am new here and frankly ashamed as well, I have scars all over my body, mainly my arms, I wear long sleeve shirts in the summer because they are so ugly and embarrassing, do any of you have to do that? By the way I am Susan and I am 40 years old.

Yes - pants and long sleeves year round! I actually thought my arms were looking better a few months ago and wore a tee shirt - only to be asked "what happened to your arms?!" - guess they still look bad:(

I have heard about needling too! It seems to be great for all the little ice pick scars! My only concern (atleast for me), is how my skin would react to it. It seems like all the trauma is making my autoimmune system go a little overboard and I'm scared the needling won't be well received.
Is it pitted, raised or hyperpigmented scars (or all!) that you're trying to get rid of? I've tried mederma, but can never remember to apply it 6 times a day as instructed. I've also used those siicone patches that seem to make scars a little lighter, at least initially. I found that these are especially useful to keep scars/marks hidden from myself so I'm less tempted to pick.
There's also exfoliation, those peels you can get at the drug store, and OTC skin lighteners. There was this one skin lightening spot treatment from proactiv that kind of had a bleaching effect, maybe check that one out!
For the past two days I've been using a 4% Salicylic acid cream and my skin has been peeing a lot including old picked pimple marks. Same things happen when i use a lot or Retin-A. Usually my skin looks much smoother, and the scars maybe a little lighter?
i am so so so sick of my scars.

Yes my picking dictates the clothing options I have every day! I have tried tanning and that seems to help with the smaller pick marks...not the picked and repicked and repicked ones that end up infected and take weeks/months to heal. Those are scars for life...I think. I am 26 and am so afraid that I am going to look really old and whethered by the time I am 30 if I keep up this behavior.
