I have been a skin picker for years and years and just now today found this site and found a name for it I remember being in high school and picking at a place on my head into the size of a 50-cent piece and it was deep and it took a long time to heal and it would never heal cuz I was always picking at it later in life my picking was a result of being a substance abuser but I also would only pick if I had some kind of anxieties for the most part when I was using I recently picked my face again and I don't know I think this is the worst I've ever done it and to just find the site today and to find some possible remedies for my face because I need to heal it pretty fast I'm just so happy right now thank you for posting this are you try to use a lot of home remedies and even though it burns I'll clean the wound with apple cider vinegar that helps dry the wound and honey is a natural healer and so I will put a thin layer of honey on my wounds most of the time the honey will start to warm up and drip down my face but if I don't put a lot and the wound isn't really sleeping then it's okay and I found over the years that the honey helps keep my fingers off of it because I don't even have to be in the mirror after I've been in the mirror to pick I just know the sore is there I also have been using for the last day from this episode Bio-Oil with a little bit of lavender oil in it I don't know if it's helping but I'm going to try the calamine because I have got to go back to work on Monday and I don't know how many explain this because unfortunately I'm just had 22 months clean and sober and just ruined it and I could have handled having a relapse but to pick my face again to this extreme is more upsetting I'm sorry if I made no sense

hi, I have a raw wound on my skin between in the middle of my forehead and im really desperate to find out how I can heal it fast. I have limited time I'm going for vacation in two weeks and desperate to find a way to heal it. ive become really sad and I'm always too scared to show my face at school. i tried to cover it with make up but that just made everything much worse then before. I will really appreciate it of someone can tell me how I can heal it much faster. and not leave a huge scar.

Calamine made things worse for me. It dried the wound way too much triggering a picking session, I ended up digging bigger holes and the sores bled a lot. I don't recommed it. Ymmv

This is what works for me: Neosporin spray or benzalkonium chloride for desinfection, Panthenol spray afterwards (most important) , Retin A gel or Tazorac gel at night. Pantothenic acid supplement internally speeds heeling as well. Healed skin in 3-4 days.

ShawnaSue66 I know your comment is from April 2014, but I just wanted to respond and ask (if you ever see this) if you ever figured out what those small hairs were that came out of your face when applying moisturizer? The same thing has been happening to me over the past 4 months or so, it's never happened prior. The tiny hairs will be all over my hands and face after I wash my face, put any skincare products on, pick at it, etc. I've noticed the hairs are near or coming out of the "acne" I have too. This "acne" also takes forever to heal and when I pop it, it instantly turns to a raw pink spot of skin and sometimes bleeds. When it tries to heal it usually looks like a blister or a whitehead, not healing skin. It's very odd. I've looked up folliculitis, and fungal acne and there's similarities but my skin doesn't resemble the photos I see online. If anyone figures this out, PLEASE comment.

MUCH THANKS IN ADVANCE. I was wondering the same thing. I have 3 never healed scalp sores. They get crusty, and then it's on. NAC, weird updos and press on nails have all failed, singly and together. (The nails won't stay on, and it is not just trying to pick that makes them pop off. Ideas?) Will buy a bottle of calamine tonight at Kroger. Pls update.

The calamine lotion really does help...it just takes a few days and extensive moisturizing with antibiotic ointment , lotion, and tea tree oil . going to incorporate the cetaphil cleanser and witch hazel tonight. I hope it helps....
