Where do you pick?

Curious where the different sweet spots are people like to pick. I know a lot of threads have different places but thought we could all list it out so everyone can see in one thread. Also do you dig down to the blood or just the top layer of skin? I try not to hit blood but sometimes it happens. For me there are 3 spots: 1&2. in the fold of the knuckle of my thumb and big toe on the palm side about the size of a quarter. 3. Palm side area between the pinky finger and hand about the size of a quarter

You 'adore!?!' your scars? If you're serious, I apologize for what I'm going to write. If not, it is very insensitive to write something so callous. I almose HOPE you are just being thoughtless because if you ARE serious, I feel for you. In a strange way, if you are sincere, I feel far less abnormal for my picking. Either 'thank you' or 'shame on you'. Good luck, either way.

Hi! It's nice to know others that do the same thing, because I always feel so isolated, like I'm the only one with this problem. Well, ever since I was a toddler I have picked at my lips, like it would almost always bleed and it looked absolutely terrible. I have, however, recently slowed down on that, significantly, I guess, because you wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at me. I always pick at my face and when I get bug bites, so I have scars on my legs. But now, I just pick at my head.... a lot. I have to tie my hair up every day and I haven't cut my hair in a couple months. I must have a least ten scabs on my head that I just pick at over and over again. They hurt, they bleed, they release gross clear fluid, it's messy. My parents bother me about it and that just makes me pick even more. I also collect my scabs in a little makeup container. I just have so much stress, and this is simply how I deal with it.

I pick the tops of my legs...far up enough that I can wear shorts, but it looks awful and I can't wear a bathing suit. I do it until I draw blood and have scars now which I'm sure will be permanent. I'm so embarrassed that I can't stop picking, but I'm glad I found this site. It made me feel slightly more normal.

right now, thankfully it's pretty much just my face. sometimes i go really deep, and there are gaping wounds and blood all over my face, but sometimes i have the will to keep it on the surface. i have scars all over me though from previous picking. in highschool my um... binkini area ? was a mess, i shaved it and i would pick at all the ingrown hairs(which i got a lot of). it was so embarassing and i was scared to let anyone see, but miraculously, its all healed and not much scarring now, and i can have a sex life. i have scars on my back, chest, arms, and legs from picking that i hate and i know wont ever go away completey, but theres something to be said for the fact that i have seriously stopped picking at those places.

I have picked at my bikini/ pubic hair area since I was 16 (Im 24 now). It started once I found out that you could pick out ingrown hairs, and my obsession with pulling them out and damaging myself in the process has produced a too many scars to count and always at least one open wound. I see a psychologist, take effexor, and have gone to a dermatologist. The psychologist and the meds had kept me from picking at my eyebrow and my scalp, but never has been able to keep me away from my pubic hair. I want to date so badly but I am so afraid to be intimate with anyone. I am happy to hear that eventually you were able to have a normal sex life because I miss feeling comfortable with myself so badly. I feel so ugly this way.

For me started around age 4 and continues to this age ( I am almost 50). Back then it was the tips of my fingers and the balls of my feet. I'm also a cheek biter, currently I only rarely pick at my feet but the two thumbs to the underside of the knuckle are game. Also the area just under my little finger. I sometimes go to first blood. Especially with my inside cheeks. Larger fleshy bits I chew (kind of like beef jerky if you ask me) totally irrational behavior but yet I am what I consider to be perfectly normal and a mentally balanced individual otherwise. I am fascinated at the body's ability to continually heal those parts I damage. I do fear cancer however since I am willfully introducing cell damage. But I can go to blood and in two weeks time you can't tell I have done anything to my hands unless you get them wet at which time the damage is quite obvious, I guess some folks masturbate or smoke or drink to relieve stress. This is my outlet (and masturbate too :-).

I think my 'sweet spots' would have to be the back of my head where I have a significant scab that i've been picking at for months. There is also my arms and legs where I have ingrown hair or blemishes. I usually will pick until I bleed, especially the scab, I'm always afarid I'm going to give myself a infection with my constant picking at certain areas! But my worse itching is my scalp in general it's like a release when I pick off a scab or find dry skin!

I pick my scalp too. I think people don't notice because it is under my hairline but I know they see me doing it. Sometimes I can feel head picks coming on and then those will become good picks and the old ones have a chance to heal. Right now I have two picks going on the back on my head and one on my neck just below the hairline. I was looking for a new pick tonight but I can't find anything that feels like it could be good.

if there is a cut then I will pick it, but in general I stick to my left arm and wear long sleeves all the time. I always pick till I bleed, it's how I know when to stop and how I know it will leave a mark, a large proportion of my left fore arm is scar tissue.

I started out obsessing over scars Then one day my feet were callaused and i cut it off. It felt soooo good. I kept doing it and eventually it was a habbit. then i got to my toes, and i dont know why, but i can let them heal, and then they get hard and i pick them. Then i eat the skin. I need to stop.I bite my cheeks and life too.

I can't stop picking moles!!! Especially this one on my neck. I pick the top off, and wait for it to heal. Then I start all over again!! My mole picking started with a mole on my head though... long story.

Hello. I pick my fingers and toes...the cuticles and nails but also the skin around my nails to the first joint and on my finger pads to the first joint. I pick any little bumps on my legs, breasts, or arms. If I find a spot where my skin isn't smooth I pick it, i have a bump on my upper left arm I've been picking for months. i don't know if it was a mole or not but the scar tissue won't let it heal over smoothly i think. Also I chew the insides of my cheeks, I pull skin off my lips, and I have a few really nice picks going on my head at any given time. I have been picking since I was a kid. The head picks are part of my bedtime routine. I pick my fingers very badly at work all day since they are right there on the keyboard in front of me. Head picking increases during tv time but nail picking decreases then. I need help.
