Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the treatment of choice for Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors like skin picking. It is considered the most effective method today to treat skin picking.
Each session contains worksheets that are relevant to the session material. Using a messaging system built directly into the worksheet, you will discuss your answers with your therapist, as well as your progress and any specific difficulties you might have. There are no limitations on how to use the worksheets-- they can be used to strictly address the relevant issues, or to have an open discussion. Since the messages function like email, you are free to respond at your convenience.
All our therapists are qualified professionals, trained by the TLC foundation to treat BFRBs (body focused repetitive behaviors) such as skin picking.
The time spent on each session varies between clients. Throughout the program, you will have unlimited access to your therapist, allowing you to take as much time as you need.
No special technical skills are needed. The program is very intuitive and easy to use. Should you have any technical difficulties, our helpful support staff is available.
The program is designed for adults. While the minimum age requirement is 16, in some cases the program can be beneficial for individuals of ages 14-16. Please contact us for evaluation prior to registering if you are under 16 years of age. For adolescents below 18, parental consent is required.
Yes. We recommend you let your current therapist know that you're using the program.
We don't recommend nor do we prescribe specific medications. If you are currently taking medications or you're planning to start taking medications, we recommend consulting your doctor/psychiatrist. Medication use is not addressed specifically by the program.
Yes. Simply notify us that you're stopping the program, and you can continue at a later date.
Yes. If for any reason you'd like to be assigned a different therapist, simply contact us.
We don’t accept insurance. You might want to check with your insurance company to see if they can reimburse payment for this program. We do provide very affordable pricing, which is comparable with the co-pay of typical insurance plans.
Yes, you can stay anonymous if you wish. You don’t have to provide your real name to us at any point in the process.
