I am right handed and I pick with my left hand too! Can't do it with the right hand, weird!

I dont have any callouses, I pick with fingernails. I am righthanded but only pick my scalp with my left hand. If I try to do it with my right, I cant (it feels totally alien and I cant locate the spots on my scalp. Maybe there is a clue in that as to a method of quitting?)

You're right! I made up a new rule, that I must use my left hand with the computer, eighter both hands or just the left one. Otherwise I often use only my right hand and pick with the left. Hmm, feels quite wierd typing, as if something's missing... I will try to hold on to this rule and to apply it to other things as well. It is really wierd, I feel frustrated right now from not picking... Just like some other drug abuser... Good luck!

That's great-its a start. Maybe I can try too. Today I took a mirror and looked at the-I can't hardly even bring myself to say it-the WOUNDS on my scalp. They are ugly, red, bleeding and I am so ashamed of myself. What would people think if they knew? When I am picking at them, I imagine them to look different than what they are. To actually see them gives me a dreadful feeling. How can I keep doing this?

Aaargh! I've started to think, that maybe I shouldn't try to stop at all! Because every time I keep myself from picking, it just results in a uncontrollable massive picking afterwards. Today I picked the wound I've tried to let heal and missed a lecture... If I pick regularly, it seems easier for me to control my life. Nowadays I rarely miss out meetings and lectures because of it, like I did before. That is, as long as I don't try to stop! :D Ironic... But I want the wounds and marks to go away so that I can go swimming with my friends, which I haven't done in ten years now... I don't want people to see the wound on my vulva, how awkward for anyone involved! I need a new stupid habit! Talking about imagining, once I picked at a "blackhead" on my cheak, it didn't hurt a bit. In a day it became an open wound big as a golf ball! I felt so fake trying to explain to people that I hadn't been hit! I told them I've got some allergic reaction, that I'd fallen, etc, but of course they must have noticed something was wrong. Really embarrassing.

Hmm, I use my right hand, and I am right handed. Do either of you have a callous of blisters on your fingers from picking?

I don't have callouses on my hands, but I have horrible scars where I've picked at my cuticles for so long that it's just a permanent mark. My thumb and left ring finger are real bad rignt now. I just started picking at those yesterday. But I pick on both hands so I use both hands about equally. How long have guys been picking at your hands?? I've been picking at mine since I was in high school, about 10 years go and I'm in my late 20s so I started in my teens. I have terrible callouses on my feet though from picking at my heels. Both of them are terrible right now. I used a Ped Egg this weekend but it just dried them out so horrible that now they're cracked and I'm back at square one.

Since I'm a cuticle picker, I use both hands even though I'm right-handed. It's equally bad if I use either.
