Not Sure

I'm 37 and I have been picking only one of my toenails (3rd one on right). I will pick the whole nail off and being doing it for years. It's to the point my toenail will grow back black and I will pick that off. I even have an habit of picking with my husband feet and sometimes he hates it or wake up mad. Not sure what my problem is. I can be watching tv, talking on the phone, reading a book, or just on the computer and I will find myself picking that same toe. The sad thing is I will ask my husband to rub my feet, but I then find myself asking him to scratch the toe with no nail. Please Help

Have you tried putting a band aid on that toe, or your fingers? I am still battling a serious picking disease, but mine has to do with picking at acne on my face. I put band aids on my pointer fingers to not only make the action impossible, but also to serve as a constant reminder to not pick. Hope this may help!

Ok, never tried that but I did just put a band aid on it. I thought about going to get my feet done and have them put a fake nail up there so I won't pick. But until then I'm trying the band aid. Thank You How long have you been picking? Honestly, I have been picking for years and just realized I have a problem. Sad

I have been picking since I was 13, so almost 7 years. It started with my back and then moved to my face. It has been a serious problem for me, causing depression and anxiety (although I've never been properly diagnosed or put on medication). I really wish you the best - I'm almost 2 weeks pick free and I have never felt better. I'm not going to lie - it's hard work. But completely rewarding.

That's good. I'm on one day since I tried the band aid covering. Yea, I thought about going to a professional but I said I'll try this support group, gather ideas, and keep praying. Keep me posted and congradulations o your two weeks, can't wait til I get there.
