awesome !! ... a place to come to remind ourselves that we ... want to overcome our obstacle .... that we have a purpose .... that we will rise above our misfortunes ... that anger, anxiety and adversity can direct us to something positive rather than negative if we busy ourselves in that direction .... that change is possible and can bring about new behaviours and better results .... and that addictions fool us and our true beliefs .... yes, if we remind ourselves of our internal fortitude and strength and use positive self talk we can overcome the seemingly insurmountable !! we have more strength than we realise.

yes!! tis a great idea :) we do have a purpose ... a grand purpose .... and it is definitely NOT to be a captive to our own hands endlessly staring at ourselves in front of a mirror. what a crappy way to carry on!!!!!!!!! i just thought of this .... and i think it may help me to stay strong, and hopefully it will help others ... THINK of your LIFE as a MOVIE ... and you want to make it as entertaining, honorable and inspiring as possible. Imagine the LOVES of your life are always there, watching ... rooting for you ... believing in you ... and everything you do can make that movie and those that love you and are watching over you increasingly happy! like super happy! and the more you BRING THE BOAT INTO THE HARBOR ... aka you achieve your goals honorably ... the more you are happy and the more you inspire yourself and others around you!!!! the last thing the people who love us and our watching our "move" want for us to do is HURT OURSELVES. this may be completely corny ... but if i just stay mindful, and hopeful, and think of my life as a movie .. where others could tap into my behavior and conduct at any given moment ... it REALLY takes away any desire to go bore them and myself by sitting in front of a mirror for hours on end PICKING AWAY AT MY HELPLESS SKIN. EW EW EW , this makes me soooooooooo angry. it makes me angry that i have SPENT SO MUCH TIME DOING THIS. i am angry. i am crying. i HATE HATE HATE THE fact of how much time i have wasted doing this mindless activity. i just had a minor panic attack.. i am okay. i think it is OKAY to get angry, ... having this forum and writing about my experience is really making a lot come to the surface for me. .... i am thankful for this .. i am thankful for you all........................ ALL MY LOVE!! now ... i am going to make this MOVIE of mine very, very great ;)

"The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins." ~ Bob Moawad

"Lack of self-discipline aggravated by stress and lack of sleep is the number one cause of reduced productivity worldwide. In essence, it explains why capitalism appears to be economically superior to communism today. If you develop self-discipline habits early, your life is likely to take an entirely different course. If you believe you are lacking in this fields, try the following exercise: as soon as an activity comes to your mind that you really are unwilling to do, do it. Your rational brain must be the master of your body, not the other way around. Stand over a pool of cold water. Do you hate jumping in? The more you hate it, the sooner you should jump. And in the end you will love it. Cold shower is a minor inconvenience once you experience the volitional power of the brain. You need to master the skill of a perfect execution of your own plans. The more precise your plan, the harder it is to execute, yet the most tangible the results. Learn to delay gratification. If you focus on your long-term goal, your daily inconveniences will by far be more bearable. A strenuous quest towards the goal is the best reward to a genius mind. Minor awards of laziness do not befit a true genius. Think of self-discipline daily. Even strongest minds can relax it all too easily. Remember about stress and sleep. Stress and sleepiness are chief factors that undermine self-discipline."

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ Marianne Williamson

“Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.” ~ Buddha ------------------> Every patient carries her or his own doctor inside.~Albert Schweitzer ------------------> One must not forget that recovery is brought about not by the physician, but by the sick man himself. He heals himself, by his own power, exactly as he walks by means of his own power, or eats, or thinks, breathes or sleeps.~Georg Groddeck ------------------> I've experienced several different healing methodologies over the years - counseling, self-help seminars, and I've read a lot - but none of them will work unless you really want to heal.~Lindsay Wagner ------------------> The... patient should be made to understand that he or she must take charge of his own life. Don't take your body to the doctor as if he were a repair shop. ~Quentin Regestein ------------------> "Never consider the possibility of failure; as long as you persist, you will be successful."~Brian Tracy

We can only waste ourselves.**** ~George M. Adams..........*****If we would only give, just once, the same amount of reflection to what we want to get out of life that we give to the question of what to do with a two weeks' vacation, we would be startled at our false standards and the aimless procession of our busy days.*********~Dorothy Canfield Fisher..........********contemplation often makes life miserable. I am going to put a post it on every mirror in my house that says "short term pleasure, but long term pain!" A woman at work even said "shorterm gain but longterm pain." I don't like that though because we don't gain anything by doing this to ourselves.

I work at Jenny Craig and we always say "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels"....it is the same concept with this. When someone craves something and it looks so good, they want to eat it so bad, but then they might not lose weight that week. For us, we look in the mirror and all we can think about is how bad we want to pick. So...I am going to use "no short term picking feels as good as long term beauty!"

"We are all our own devils and we make this world our hell." -Oscar Wilde "What you don't understand you can make mean anything." -Chuck Palahniuk "Fairytales don't teach children that dragons exist. They already know that dragons exist. Fairytales teach children that dragons can be defeated." -G.K. Chesterton "Be pretty if you can, be witty if you must, but be gracious if it kills you." -Elsie de Wolfe "Sometimes when we lose ourselves in fear and dispair, in routine and constancy, we can thank god for Bavarian sugar cookies. And, fortunately when there aren't any cookies, we can still find reassurance in a familiar hand on our skin, or a kind and loving gesture, or a subtle encouragement, or a loving embrace, or an offer of comfort, not to mention hospital gurneys, and nose plugs, an uneaten danish, soft-spoken secrets, and Fender stratocastors, and maybe the occasional piece of fiction. And we must remember that all these things, the nuances, the anomalies, the subtleties, which we assume only accesorize our days are effective for a much larger and nobler cause. They are here to save our lives. I know the idea seems strange, but it just so happens to be true." -Stanger Than Fiction "Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall killls you. And sometimes when you fall, you fly." -Neil Gaiman

by Let.it.B ...... The urges to pick stem from anxiety. Screwing up our skin is our outlet. It's a destructive action, but it's how we release our negative energy. Some people eat, or smoke, or pull their hair out. We go after our skin. It's silly - yup! But it's a hormone chemical embalance in our brains, it's the cards we were dealt. HOWEVER - I've read books on this and studies have shown that recovery IS possible, and that we can change our brain's chemical activity by changing our behaviors. Easier said than done, yup! But the glass is half full - so let's focus on the fact that 1. It CAN be done, 2. It HAS been done (people recover from csp), and 3. It WILL be done. (We're going to beat this). ---------- words of wisdom and inspiration ☺☺☺

LET IT BE - by THE BEATLES - When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. And in my hour of darkness She is standing right in front of me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, let it be. Whisper words of wisdom, let it be. And when the broken hearted people Living in the world agree, There will be an answer, let it be. For though they may be parted there is Still a chance that they will see There will be an answer, let it be. Let it be, let it be. Yeah There will be an answer, let it be. And when the night is cloudy, There is still a light that shines on me, Shine on until tomorrow, let it be. I wake up to the sound of music Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, let it be. There will be an answer, let it be. Let it be, let it be, Whisper words of wisdom, let it be. (I personally, interpret these song lyrics as a reminder to myself to *Let My Skin Be*. I hope you can too.)
