Hello, my sister has been picking her face and body for 6 years now and my family and i are at a lost to help her. Each time I try to talk to her about it she becomes enraged and yells which i feel she does because she is mad at her self inside. She has spent hundreds of dollars of face peels and always says she is going to stop but 6 years later she is still doing it! I'm in tears and don't know what to do. Does anyone have adicve as to what helps pickers stop? I look at her skin and am so saddened because my skin is so clear and hers is covered in open scabs and etc. and i know that if she were only to stop or get help her skin could start to heal. Please help! I don't know what else to do!

I wish I could tell you what to do. I'm in your sister's situation; I can't stop picking at my skin. I've convinced myself it will make my skin better although I know it's ruining my skin. I have sores all over my legs, too. I'm so proud of you for looking into your sister's condition. You are making the effort to understand and relieve her condition. I'm only eighteen and live with my mom, so she sees what I do to my skin, but instead of trying to comfort me, sometimes she makes me feel like it's my fault for my terrible habit and even tries to scare me out of it. If concern for infection and scars could stop me, i would have stopped a long time ago. Comfort your sister without condoning her behavior, but definitely not condemning her, either. I hope to hear news of her success very soon. I'll be praying for you both.
