PLEASE help

Hi, I am a 14 year old girl and I cannot stop picking at acne on my face, fir the last 3 years. This is ruining my life, I find myself crying every night about it. I can NOT stop. I dig and dig until I have an open sore on my face. And then I do it again. And again. I'm so embarrassed and ashamed. I want to stress over school and clothes and finals, but instead I'm trapped at home with a bloody red face. I really really do want to stop. I spend hours in the bathroom picking away. I just cant stop. I have small pockmarks covering every inch if my forehead. My question for you all, is how do I stop. And also, will these scars go away? Will I ever have a smooth face, scar free? Thank you, Dust.

please see your doctor and talk openly and honestly about your habits. talk to counselors, and family and friends to enlarge your support group. follow the advice given. read all you can through the topics on this site and other sites. there is lots of valuable information, tactics and advice based on experience. knowledge is very important. put together a plan of attack on this compulsion with an aim to change your behaviours. you, are the most important component, though. you have to seriously want to quit, accept the responsibility of your actions, follow prescribed treatments and therapies, and commit to changing your behaviours each and every day. you are young. that is in your favour. your skin is more resilient and scarring will fade quicker. once you quit picking you will see how fast your skin gets looking good. the trick is, to treat your skin lovingly and respectfully each and every day. once you do that, you will reap the rewards. best wishes to you to conquer this now. early. know, though, it won't go away on its own and it will take hard work.
