Prozac, Baby Butt Cream, and Zinc... WHO KNEW???

Hi there! It's been a very long time since I've been on this site. I guess I just finally got to a point where I felt like instead of talking about it and writing about it I wanted to DO SOMETHING about it. I've been an obsessive compulsive skin picker for about 8 years now and only recently learned that this was an actual disorder. I've done it all whether it be covering up my mirrors with newspaper, taking down my mirrors and locking them in a room, cutting my nails to the point that they bleed, washing my face in the dark, having someone always go to the bathroom with me,... you name it, I've done it. About a month ago I broke down and started seeing a therapist and was prescribed Prozac. I've been taking it for about 3 weeks now and I'm really beginning to feel it working. The constant urge to pick at and obsess over my skin has subsided tremendously and that tight, anxious feeling I used to get in the pit of my stomach is no longer there. Also, I've been applying Desitin Original Zinc Ointment to my face everyday as a mask and not only has it dried out any existing blemishes, it's also LIGHTENING the scars and hyperpigmentation that was left behind from my constant picking. The Desitin ointment ALSO healed my open wounds in as little as 3 days! The active ingredient in this baby butt cream is 40% zinc oxide. I did some research on zinc oxide and learned that it has tremendous healing properties. Then, I researched zinc supplements and learned that by taking 50-100 mg of zinc, it can not only help clear up your skin, but also prevent future breakouts from occurring! (Zinc supplements are also good for helping skin to repair itself faster) These 3 things have truly been helping me and my skin looks better than it's looked in years! I hope that this helps anyone who wants to give it a try. Good luck and please keep me posted :)

Thanks for your suggestions and for sharing your success story, even if it is still in progress...that's awesome. Keep Going! I have been picking for about 6 yrs now, with concentrations on different areas. Right now I have been picking my upper arms a lot. I bought some Desitin today and put it on tonight...I like how thick it is, and how it makes picking nearly impossible. I am a little wary about prescription medication, but I am seriously considering seeing a phsychiatrist to discuss options. Hope your skin is still looking good! Thanks again for sharing!
