Anyone have a clue?

I have recently come across the issue of this question: Do I pick because I am stressed out? Or another reason? I have found that when I am alone I pick...a lot. When I keep myself occupied with other's company...I am fine. My mom swears I do too much and always encourages me to be home and relaxing...but it's those times when I'm home alone that I destroy myself. Any thoughts?

I started doing it when alone too - it is often because - for some reason - we can't stand having attention only on ourselves. When with others you have your attention on others. My reason to run from looking at myself is because I often don't like myself and critisize myself. Picking acne is an activity which craves a lot of attention and focus - we can find the tiniest pore and squeeze it - that's why it can be so addictive, for it really helps to NOT LOOK AT ONESELF. I need to learn to accept that I'm not (and never will be) perfect and that I don't need to do something with 100% perfection - to stop all the criticism.

i have the same problem but i've noticed that even after spending a long time around other people, as soon as i'm alone i pick. i actually get anxious whenever it's time to be alone because i don't want to fight the urge to pick.
