Hi there! I currently have pink and whites (fake nails) that last around a month. I'd have to say it all depends on how strong your urge is to pick. It is possible to still pick, the nails just make it a lot harder. Also, the damage is far greater. They've helped me because I'm reminded that the nais make it harder for me to pick and the damage I could potentially cause to my skin will make the healing time twice as long. For me, that's enough of a reason not to even bother trying. As for healing remedies, I've been using calamine lotion... it's been my saving grace. A couple weeks ago, I had three large open wounds on my face from a picking session. One on my forehead, one on my chin, and one on the right side of my face. I did some research and read that calamine lotion has a lot of great healing properties and isn't just for chicken pox. It's used for healing wounds, treating acne, and even lightening scars. Also, because it contains an anti-itch formula, it also helps with the itchy feeling I get when my wounds are healing due to the tightening feeling the scabs create. This helps prevent me from scratching and picking at the scabs and it also prevents cracking and bleeding of the scabs and healing wounds. Anyway, my wounds healed twice as fast as they normally would, some did in just a few days, others in about a week - just depends on the severity and size. I hope this helps and good luck to you on your road to recovery! :)
