Face Picker. - HEL

I'm not the sort of person you'd think would have this problem. I'm top of my class, etc., etc., etc.... I don't do drugs, I eat healthy, all that stuff. But I have this problem. I don't even know why I have it. It bugs my Mom to death, because when she was a teen she was a face-picker too. I can't seem to stop. I'm always picking, I don't even have a reason. My face looks disgusting... I feel like no one should like me... I mean, it's just so gross. But I can't stop. What do I do?

im top of my class too, athlete, leadership positions in clubs and everything. I read somewhere that perfectionists tend to develop into skin pickers sometimes, because we see imperfections wherever we look. You are not as uncommon as you might think

I'm a perfectionist as well and was always top of my class. I think being a perfectionist is what actually helps to create this problem. I feel that nobody will like me either as I do a lot of the picking on my face and my mum also used to do it when she was younger but said she just grew out of it. Keeping in mind she only did it for a few years in comparison to my 17 years and I'm only 20!!!

I think im a perfectionist too. Im an athlete, im healthy, an academic. I think it definitely has added to the problem. i see my face and see imperfections everywhere and try to make it better...which makes it worse obviously. Im also only 20 but have decided as of yesterday to make a determined effort to overcome this and not let it dominate my life.

Good for you. It does control your life. I'm 37 years old and and I have been doing this since I was a young teenager. You don't want to let this ruin your life like it has mine. I use to pick when there was nothing to pick I use to make a mess out of my face. I am taking the 40 day challenge and I find this is a very effective way to start to conquer this behaviour.
