Just sharing my sadness after a picking episode

I go on this forum when I'm relapsing and freaking out about my skin picking addiction. I've been pmsing for about a week and have been using tretinoin (acne medicine) for about two months so my skin is not happy. I cannot help myself when I get a couple pimples and start going after every tiny pimple, blackhead, whitehead, you name it. I have a need to constantly check my face in the mirror to "make sure it looks perfect" but...you guessed it, it never does. I feel that I need to go to the bathroom to check how it looks but I'm scared to b in there alone cuz I know that I will probably end up picking. I've even thought about asking my boyfriend to watch me as i do my nightly routine cuz I kno I won't pick in front of him. As I am about to start picking, the voice in my head is screaming "don't do it! Don't do it!" But my hands don't listen. So here I am miserable again. Skin still looks bad, pimples r still there, and I am most vulnerable in the evenings. I'll try to make it till tomorrow.

Hi nastyab, I understand how you are feeling. My mind is always telling me not to do it, but I do it anyways. Its always in the evenings after I have inspect every inch of my face under a bright light that shows every little bump and imperfection. Maybe you could leave the door open while you are in the bathroom washing your face so that you don't have complete privacy to pick. Hang in there, it will get better.

Thank you, SpottyFace. :) I think it's a good idea to leave the door open since I am too embarrassed for anyone to see me pick. My boyfriend being around helps me control myself since I feel very ashamed when he sees my face after I just picked. I also am going to try vitamin C and Zinc. I think sugar and high amount of carbs makes my skin worse so diet could really be the key. I will keep you posted whether these techniques work and thank you very much for the support. :)

I also wanted to mention that you might try taking Vitamin C and some Zinc. I was taking a collagen supplement because I thought it would help my skin, but I think it contributed to my acne. I have stopped the collagen supplement and I am now taking high doses of Vitamin C and 50 mg of Zinc and my acne has significantly improved.
