So fed up with this now!

I am new to the forum. I have been compulsively picking my face for about 23 years now and in the last couple of years I have started to pull out ingrown and thick eyebrow hairs. It's getting so bad that I wonder if I will have any eyebrow hairs left soon. I was using a magnifying mirror (absolute worst purchase ever for someone with this disorder) and some sharp tweezers but two days ago I gave them to my partner to hide from me as I was pretty much picking the whole day through. As I am a stay at home mum at the moment I have the opportunity to do this. Back when I worked full time things weren't nearly this bad. I have signed up to this forum in the hope that talking about it as much as possible will help me to at least calm my picking down, if not stop me doing it altogether, which to be honest I'm not sure is even possible! I guess we will see what happens! Thanks for reading my rant!

I feel your pain. Have you been able to look at some of the posts and try some of the strategies?

I have had a little look yeah. Need to decide on some to try out. My boyfriend hiding the magnifying mirror and tweezers has helped a little but unfortunately I still have my nails!

Hi Tash!
Great to have you here! I think talking about it is a great strategy. I love this community...everyone is so helpful and supportive! I don't have much helpful advice to offer (since I still have the occasional skin-picking spell, so I can't say I have the ultimate strategy to stop!) Kudos to you for being a stay-at-home mum, by the way! I so admire you! I could wish I had that dedication to family. I do daily affirmations, use lemongrass oil on any acne that arrives (it dries it out, literally overnight, so there's not much temptation to pick it!), drink turmeric tea to balance my hormones and have taken up making jewellery in my spare time, so my hands are busy. Let me know if you think of or find any interesting strategies! Looking forward to hearing from you!
