The treatment of tics, skin picking, and hair pulling is a passion of mine and comprises the majority of my clinical practice. Most of my work focuses on the treatment of children and adolescents, as well as education and support for their parents, but I also work with adults. In addition to my clinical work, I have been involved in research, teaching, and training in the implementation of habit reversal training.
My treatment approach is cognitive-behavioral in nature and is administered in a collaborative format. In particular, I utilize habit reversal therapy (HRT), a research-supported behavioral approach for the management of skin picking. As other anxiety or behavior disorders often occur among individuals who pick their skin, I frequently utilize other evidence-based treatments to address these issues. My treatment is designed to be time-limited and with the goal of providing individual with the skills to be self-sufficient following therapy.
