Just found out about picking

Hello all, I have just found this site tonight. I never knew the things I did were actually a disorder. When I was in high school, I used to pull out my hair, one strand at a time. I stopped doing that at some point. But I have 2 young children, and ever since I have had my first, I have starting picking my face and arms. My face doesn't have many blemishes, but my arms have many little bumps. I have picked my arms to the point I have many bruises, scars and bloody spots. I am grossed out by the way I look and even more about the little bumps. I pick my husband too, sometimes to the point hes bloody. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

yes, me too. : ) I am lucky my face has always been mostly clear of acne or blemishes(though when one does come along I squeeze the heck out of it). My main picking area is my upper arms, because I see one little bump, I have the strongest urge to make it "pop" then I look for another and the crazy cycle starts again. I also seemed to start picking more after I had my baby. He is now 5 years old. I have been able to not pick for 10 days in a row now and that is the longest I have gone since before he was born! I am glad you have found this website because I know it has helped me so hope to hear from u again. mammab123@yahoo.com If anyone knows of a support group or 12 step program for Compulsive Skin Picking Disorder please email me with the info! I am in the US located in Missouri.
