New habit to replace picking?

When I was in college, I had a friend who used to twirl this little charm/ key chain like thing around his fingers. And he never said why exactly but alluded to the fact that he used it to help fight some addiction. Anyone ever try something like that to fight picking? My face right now is such a disaster. When I look in the mirror I feel like I've woken up to an absolute nightmare. I feel like its taking over my life I hate this so much!! I normally have like 3 sits a YEAR and right now I have 16 bc of this problem and I can't stop picking! Its such a release when I do :-( hate myself right now! I keep getting proposals from a photographer who wants to photograph me but no way would I do t looking like this :-( I edit my own pics and I know he could edit my face too but just the embarrassment of it all makes me wanna hide in my house :-(

I am in this same exact situation. I turned down an opportunity for a photo shoot a few weeks ago because of the scars on my arms, chest, neck and face. Even though my boyfriend is supportive and understanding, I'm keeping clothes on when I sleep with him because I'm so worried my scars will turn him off and adding more foundation in the morning before I allow him to see my face. I need suggestions on habits to replace picking. I've started to pick at my head so any scars are hidden by my hair but I know that's still unhealthy. Has anyone found anything that satisfies?!?

I haven't tried it yet but I heard this has helped: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000F8I5AE/ref=asc_df_B000F8I5AE2016146?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B000F8I5AE&hvpos=1o3&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6720315941496902657&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt= It's a tangle toy used for kids with sensory issues and people with addictions/OCD! I want one! I also heard wearing a rubber band on your wrist and snapping it when you feel tempted. Let me know if u try anything!
