Join me in the thirty day challenge!! As for helping your skin heal, use neosporin or bacitracin on the open wounds and scabs. Put a big glob on the spots before bed. This helps prevent those flaky crusty scabs. Try to avoid getting the ointment on clear skin since it can clog pores. Another thing to try is aloe vera gel (the bright green kind you get for sunburns). Both treatments are messy so put a towel on your pillow. Hope this helps!

Hi Needhelp! I got on this site several months ago and I read a post that suggested calamine lotion. I went out and bought some and I promise that it really does help. I usually put it on my spots at night. It helps scabs to heal and reduces redness and swelling. Give it a shot!

I have mixed feelings about calamine lotion sometimes it helps and other times it seems to be to drying. I feel for you as i had a spot for 2 1/2 months exactely like you described as i would not leave it alone. Hang in there it will heal

Hi Soembarrassed, Yeah, it really does dry out your skin, but for some reason that works better for me on certain spots. I think it just depends on your skin type. For me, I have super oily skin, which is why it probably works. I can't seem to find anything that keeps the oil away during the day, even salicylic astringent seems to make my skin oily. I don't really understand why, but I have had some luck with cetaphil antibacterial barsoap. Do you know of anything else that might help with this??

Hey there SpottyFace! Instead of using a salicylic astringent, try using witch hazel. It works so much better and isn't as harsh or drying and is actually really good for your skin! :) I use it both morning and night after washing my face and before I apply my moisturizer. It has made my pores smaller and my overall skin tone more even. Also, my skin feels cleaner and smoother when I use it. It feels like my pores are getting a deeper clean than with just washing my face alone. Ever since adding witch hazel to my daily skincare regimen, I haven't experienced any new breakouts, which is a HUGE bonus! The brand I use is T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel. I have also tried the generic store brands as well to save a buck or two but have found them to be too drying and, in my opinion, not as effective. Witch Hazel is also really great for helping wounds to heal faster and has a soothing effect as opposed to other astringents that have proven to be more irritating - especially on broken/wounded skin. I hope this helps! Much love - newperspective

I wish I did! My skin has always been a little oily but the last few months it has been 10 times worse. No matter what I do. I swear I go through hundreds of blotting papers a day. Powder does not work at all for me just makes it look worse. I am going to.use the calamine lotion on this mess I have made as it does seem to help. Cetaphil didnt work for me seemed to leave a film on my face.

I am using neosporin and calamine lotion. I put neosporin and a bandaid on for 4 hours now i am letting it air out with some calamine lotion hoping this works. Couldnt go to work today as i looked awful and makeup looked hideous. Will more than likely stay home tmrw in hopes it will be better by wednesday...fingers crossed. I never know what to do...leave alone and let it air dry. Doing this forms a scab causing me to pick...keeping it moist seems to delay healing...ugh just dont know!

Well I'm trying not to pick and mine is looking loads better I've left it for about two days now ie just been washing my face with plain soap and using my differing cream and if I need moisturiser I use aqueous cream usually in the morning I moisturise I'm also avoiding make up as well so it doesn't aggravate the sore/scab thing I hope if I leave it in 10 days time I'm hoping it will be gone don't pick lets try and beat this addiction together even if you feel the urge post a comment at least your hands are busy then and not touching your face I'm doing that now also avoid mirror ls and throw away tweezers xxx

I am laying here feeling like crap! I did this to myself and am now in hiding making up excuses to everyone why I am not at work. I will not go back until this looks 80% better and right now I am not very hopeful. I am hoping by weds night it looks better so I can go to work thurs and friday. That gives me 3 days. What do you guys think is that enough time?

Hmm I did the same thing I missed school and made excuses not to go out as well I suggest using aquaphor cream it's making mine look better and it's only around £1.00 I don't like calamine loition I thought it irrated my scabs I think it's good to cover your face in once the scabs have gone cause when it dries pink you don't notice all the imperfections on your face meaning you won't pick but please don't pick your scab as it will be harder to cover up and I think three days it'll look a lot better but don't pick I have to even follow my own advice on this one cause I can pick but ice thrown all my tweezers out and moved the mirror into another room :) and surround yourself with people the only time I pick is when I'm alone but yes use calamine loution at night (but I use my regular acne cream) I don't like calamine lotion and aquaphor cream in the day it doesn't break you out as its water based :) keep me updated day by day or even if your tempted to pick were in this together :)

The thing is it is not a scab. It was on sunday but when i got up sunday morning i washed my and it started flaking off so i helped it now i got bright red skin with uneven skin around the edges. So should i use neosporin or calamine? I dont have aquaphor cream and am not ready to face the public to get some.

That's what mine is like in the morning mine will get a new layer of skin form over it and thy will come off the skin will be bright red and that process keeps happening is that what's your sore is like? And I'm not sure Neosporin is good for it as its a antibiotic ointment and the sore doesn't seem infected so I doubt it'll help I'd say continue with calamine lotion and if it look no better in the morning try something like Vaseline put a big blob on it so you can't touch it :)

Looks a little better. I stayed home from work today. I may tmrw to depending on how it goes today. It is not as red and is flakey so I am hoping the calamine will do its job and the scab will just roll off sometime today or tmrw. Great job not picking and i applaude you for going to work something i can not do while in this condition

Slowly healing. Right now i am left with a shiny pink mark. Not an open wound anymore. Really not sure what to do at this stage. Calamine did help i am just not sure if i should use it anymore. I think i am going to let it air out and see how it goes. I would use the calamine as it goes help. Dont beat yourself up new day time for healing. We all just need to realize we are still the same smart..funny...beautiful women regardless of a few spots
