i'm new here too!

Hi -- I've been struggling with skin-picking ever since I can remember. I'm 23 now, and it's really become a problem for me. It's so embarrassing... and I know that I'm ruining my appearance, which lowers my self-esteems and then continues the cycle... but I can't stop! I'm currently seeing a therapist, but I just struggle so much. I've been reading some of the forum posts, and it just helps so much to know that I'm not the only one going through this. I'd love some tips from anyone who's having success in quitting. I just want to respect my body and be able to love my skin! Cheers to all!

hi violet. welcome. we understand your issues. it's great you are seeing a therapist. hopefully you have discussed your issue with skin picking at your sessions and you can share your involvement here too. as for tips, check into posts i have created and you will see what has helped me in my effort. i am on day 36 of no picking! read as many of the topics as you can from beginning to end to see what others have been through and are doing. hopefully, you can set about a new path for yourself. one of determination and commitment with many new tactics to use in your effort. all the best to you!! :)

wow! 36 days! good for you! thanks for responding to my post. it's so weird to actually talk to people about this... but i think it's a great step. now, when i'm at home and i have the urge to pick, i'm going to come here and read forum posts -- it helps so much to know i'm not alone. i'll check out your posts... thanks for your input and encouragement!
