Treatments for large pores?

Hi all, I have found that the large pores on and around my nose are a big issue for me. I can't stand to see anything in them or I will go after them. I was wondering if anyone has tried any of the pore minimizing products that are available or any treatments such as laser genesis (I read that it is supposed to help 'shrink' the scarred/enlarged pores which in turn, leads to fewer break outs). The dermatologist prescribed retin A to me but I am scared to try it because I heard that the initial break outs can be more severe and also lead to flaking/peeling/redness. I am worried this will lead to more picking. Has anyone tried retin A as part of their skin care routine? I currently use the neutrogena advanced solutions products and they work pretty well overall, but I have been breaking out more lately because I went off of my birth control pills and I am guessing my hormones are trying to get back on track. Although, I started breaking out more when I switched birth control (I went from mono nessa to tri nessa). Either way, I am pretty sure hormones are involved because my acne had been under control prior to the switch in birth control. The birth control also seemed to trigger anxiety and depression which caused me to pick more than I ever have before in my life. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, I have large pores on my face too and they totally make me self conscious... I just can't help it. I did read about Retin A and it is the only thing out there that is actually effective against wrinkles and skin improvement but yeah, I also read that it takes some time to take effect so if you are already anxious you might want to wait a bit until you are ready for some flaking and redness. I did find a great product, not too expensive and it really does work well.. just follow directions! It's called Silver Powder by Mario Badescu... just google it. I think it is less than 20 dollars and it lasts for a long long time. You press the powder into your pores with a damp cotton, the powder dissolves what it can and bonds with the rest.. you have to use astringent to take it off and your skin feels super clean. Anyways, check out the site for feedback and reviews. I love it and it doesn't aggravate my skin.. I am super sensitive. I am going to get Retin A anyways as the prescription stuff is the ONLY cream that will work on wrinkles.... anything else is a fake. Take care!

Ugh! I just hate them too! I don't think I'm ready to go the Retin A route just yet because my picking has gotten pretty out of control lately due to the break outs and I just don't think I'm up for the challenge quite yet. I will look into the powder. It sounds great! Thanks so much for the advice! =)
