I cannot say I have ever gone that far. I will pick scabs off of my scalp and eat them. I would also use my teeth to clean out any skin caught under my nails. I don't know what started it, but I've done it since I was a little kid.

I do that too and have been for years. (I'm 21 now...) I think it's moreso a "instinct thing'" but not sure. I have picked for about 5 years now, and am getting worse. I pick my scalp, face, neck/hairline, upper arms, butt, around my nipples (seriously), shoulders, husband (and guilty a few times on my 1-year old), ingrown hairs, cuticles, back, ears (in and out), pubic area, legs, etc. I also pick scabs in all those areas until they scar...bad...my husbands back has scabs from a year ago (that I started picking in our old apartment, thats how i know the length of time) and still are huge scars, occassionally flaking for my personal picking pleasure... I have recently discovered I have Dermatillomania, but have no insurance so I don't think I can get treatment. I used to want to be a model, my skin was GORGEOUS. Not anymore. Wish you all luck! ~Kristina
