Skin picking is a type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, so there are medications that can help. Prozac is one in particular that they use quite often. But you would have to see a psychiatrist so they can figure out which one is best for you. Hypnotism sometimes works, as for some people it can get to the root of the problem. I however didn't find it helpful. The best thing is to catch yourself when you pick. Once you catch yourself, you direct your hands towards something else. Keep yourself busy. Like a few minutes ago I couldn't sleep. I had the biggest urge to pick, so I came on the computer instead to keep my hands busy. :)

I think that is a great answer above because when I am unconscious of what I am doing, I tend to pick. Once I am aware of it, I have to make myself get up or do something else to occupy my mind and thoughts. It think getting together with someone you love and you feel accepted by helps or getting a hobby to focus your mind on and keeping your hands busy. Best wishes. It is helping just to get this into the open and into the light and see that others have this same problem.
