SkinPick offers a surprisingly comprehensive approach to treating a body focused repetition behavior. Through education, practice and analysis, the user is able to progress at his or her own pacing utilizing the caring feedback, suggestions and encouragement of a trained clinician as a guide. Being required to write down thoughts and experiences and receiving feedback in writing helps solidifies the information and allows for review and awareness of change over time. I found a significant reduction in my problem behaviors 60 - 100% and am continuing to work. I now notice triggers for relapse and right myself emotionally and choose alternative behaviors much more quickly. I highly recommend this program for those who are motivated for change and are willing to commit time to self-exploration in a written form.

It has helped me without a doubt to control my urges to pick at myself. I have a toolbox of things i can use to control my urges to pick and the principles can be used for any urge. I would absolutely recommend this experience to a person who is having issues with skin picking.

My experience with SkinPick was wonderful. I had been picking for over a decade and was at a point where it was detrimental to my physical and mental health. I loved that SkinPick was a comfortable and convenient option- I didn’t have to be face to face with a therapist in town. I could do it based on my schedule. The online option was also amazing because I was able to open up more and share everything easily. Whereas face to face would be almost.... too vulnerable to handle. SkinPick also made me feel like I had control and it gave me confidence. I always had access to my lessons and feedback from my therapist. Did SkinPick 100% cure my issue? No. BUT it 100% gave me the tools to get to a point where I can. I still have urges to pick and some days I do give into temptation. However, after going through the SkinPick program, when I do “fall off the wagon?” I’m not beating myself up mentally. I have more self love, encouragement, hope and discipline to keep on overcoming my picking. SkinPick helped me reframe my situation. I don’t feel guilty or ashamed anymore. I know exactly what to do for my mental health when I do slip, and SkinPick gave me the tools to keep pushing forward. I currently have the clearest skin I have had in years. I would highly recommend this to anyone who struggles with picking. When you have done absolutely everything and there seems like there is little hope, SkinPick is exactly where to start.

The programme has been hugely beneficial. It has helped me in many ways. The self-awareness skills such as cognitive defusion, which I knew nothing about before I started the program, have helped educate me in how my mental states influence my scratching behaviour. My struggle with my skin is ongoing, but a lifetime of using steroid creams has weakened it to the extent that it may never fully recover. I think I'm in a place that I can accept that but it's tough. I feel the program has equipped me with a toolkit of strategies that will help me deal with the challenges ahead. I would most definitely recommend it to someone who is struggling with skin picking/scratching behaviours. I will definitely enroll again if I felt the need.

I found the program very helpful. I was actually incredibly surprised how successful it was for me. I found following the suggested strategies easy because it was explained and conceptualised well, though it was confronting at times. It was helpful to understand that skin picking is linked with OCD which helped me become aware of how much I attempt to control my thoughts and feelings. I found the ACT sections very beneficial as I feel my skin picking is usually an attempt for control when I felt I couldn’t control my inner turmoil. It gives me confidence to know that after 22 years I’ve actually been able to reduce my skin picking and it had been the most sustainable yet. While I still have a while to go for it to stop altogether I find comfort in knowing that I have the confidence to ride my urges and open up to my thoughts and feelings without feeling the need to control them so thank you for the wonderful program. I would absolutely be recommending people to complete this program. I love how it is very evidence based and it was very successful for me so I will have no qualms in doing so.
