I've decided to keep a diary on this forum of my no picking attempt in hopes it will motivate me! I will keep record of my progress and if anyone wants to join in, your more than welcome, I think it helps to encourage each other :-) So here goes... Day 1 - No picking at all! Fingers crossed I can keep this up! Ill also let you know the things that help me not to pick and any advice I have. Good luck to anyone out there trying to stop and don't give up hope, we will all beat this one day!

Day 2 & 3 - Not picked anywhere on my body at all! So proud of myself right now :-) Think I'm more motivated because I have a party to go to on Saturday and want my face to look presentable! Some advice - I have avoided mirrors completely except to moisturise and put my makeup on. I just make sure I am busy during the day, as long as my mind is distracted from picking I won't pick. I think it is really as simple as that. I thought to myself, I am in control of my own mind, so if I don't want to pick anymore then I just won't. I keep reminding myself this when I get an urge to pick and it seems to be working for me so far :-) So yeah that's all I have to say for now, good luck to anyone who has also started a no picking challenge! Let me know how you are getting on, I love to hear other peoples stories! xXx

Hi Amzypop. Well done :-). I am looking for someone to do 30 days with me (30 days of NO picking, that is). An "accountability buddy". I've been trying to do this for a while, but I find it hard to keep promises to myself. I've also been trying to use my bf, but that also doesn't really work as he doesn't understand the problem. How would you like to communicate with me every day and let me know how you are doing and I'll then do the same? All the best!! :-) K

Hi Kilimanjaro, yeah that would be great to communicate every day :-) I've had the same problem with my family, it's hard for them to understand what I'm going through. I'm struggling today as I am home alone but I have managed to not pick so far, I've pulled myself away from the mirror twice today which is an achievment for me :-) x

I think we need to be in touch absolutely every day. I will write to you here (or do you prefer email?) every day and report on my progress. I hope you are doing well? I'm so excited about this and happy to have found you :-) ! 30 days here we go...! Looking forward to hearing from you. x K

.... How did you do yesterday, btw? Being at home really is the hardest. The best trick for is not to switch on the light in the bathroom. I'll make myself go back to that now. Go to the bathroom in the dark. I was traveling all day yesterday and staying in a hotel now. Being alone in a hotel is also hard - I slipped last night when very tired. But today, with my promise to myself - and to you - I'm ready to go :-). Speak soon! xk

Hi :-) I've just got back from my friends 21st birthday party which was a lot of fun! I haven't picked my face today but I did pop some spots... Don't know if that counts or not lol but no damage was done so i'll let myself off for that, just wanted to look ok when I went out so caved under the pressure a bit! Really glad to hear your going strong, keep it up, we can both do this! Talk soon x Amy

Hey. Glad you had fun :-) ! I woke up today with a really big spot on my forehead (luckily a pretty rare thing :-S) and had to pop it, but to me that doesn't count. Its only picking at things which are not at all visible unless your face is glued to the mirror - THATS not allowed! So we're both on track. I'm so excited - YES, we can do this :-) !! Are you gonna treat yourself when you complete? I think you should. And let me know how. X K

These all seem like good strategies. My problem is that I check myself in the mirror too often to look for imperfections and that is how I get sucked in by the invisible picking force and start damaging my face. Staying away from mirrors is the key. Also, avoid rubbing your hands against your face. That way you will not feel pimples and scabs on ur face by accident.

I agree! I think avoiding mirrors and touching your face are the most important things you can do to help you stop picking :-) Good luck, we can both do this! x Amy

Hi Amy. How are you doing? I was back to school yesterday after the holidays, and it was tough. Again today, I'm nackered. It's morning now, I just got up after sleeping very, very poorly, and... I picked. It happened almost in my sleep. My "excuse" was my one nostril being really sore and swollen, so that I "HAD to 'investigate'" :-S. Anyway, I pulled myself back quickly and although there was minor "non-essential" picking, no damage was done, and I've decided to let it go if you can :-) ? And I need to be more careful with the bathroom lights, especially at those very vulnerable times when my brain is sleepy and weak. How's these last couple of days been for you? x k

Hi K :-) The last few days have been tough on me as well, I had an argument with my Dad so I was in a bad mood, went into the bathroom and started looking closely at my face... I caved and picked a spot under the skin, only minimal damage was done though and I managed to stop after the one spot, which I haven't dome before! So yes I think we should both let our first slip up go, it is an up and down process when you try and stop a compulsion, we can't be too hard on ourselves! I put camomile lotion on my face today whilst I was at home as I read it can fade red marks and heal open wounds, it also stops me from picking at my skin! I'll let you know how i get on with it and if I see any improvements in my skin :-) *fingers crossed* Glad your doing well still and try not to let small slip ups get you down, we are only human! Good luck and speak soon x Amy

Hi just letting you know I haven't picked in the last few days :-) feeling quite postive at the minute, which is a rare emotion for me to feel lately lol my face is clearing up really well, I think because I can finally see my skin improving since I've left it alone it is giving me hope for the future! I just pray that I don't have one bad day and screw up all my progress... I am feeling more determined this time around in my no picking attempt, I keep telling myself enough is enough and I need to sort my life out once and for all *fingers crossed* I hope you are doing well, how have the last few days been for you? Btw the camomile lotion didn't really do much for my skin and made me break out in a few new spots so I'm staying clear of that lol I read that Aloe Vera Gel is good for clearing spots and renewing skin cells to help fade red marks and prevent scarring so I've ordered some to try out! Talk soon x Amy

Hi :-) Great quote, I agree that you can overcome anything as long as you don't give up! I'm doing well so far, been about 11 days and only had 1 small slip up, but no major damage was done thankfully lol hope your going strong too, let me know how you get on and good luck! x Amy
